As our previous leader James has moved to QLD in late last year, we had a number of leaders helping out in Term 1, initially with Tom, then Carolyn and Cassandra also contributed their time, we thank them for keeping this going. Then Eli, Vanden & Lindsay also joined as Leader, this is when Moocooboolah District Venturers Group was formed, which included Venturers from Meadowbank, Tambourine Bay, East Ryde, North Ryde, Hunters Hill, Boronia and Putney.
The highlight of the year was when our leader, Cassandra, and we received the “Chief Commissioner’s Certificate of Appreciation” in May re 2011 incident at Deep Pass Canyon, Wollemi. During a hike in late 2011 with a group of Venturers and Leaders went canyoning in the Wollemi National Park, one of the leaders walked off by himself on top of a cliff, slipped and fell, broke a leg, damaged a heel and vertebrae.
We assisted in following Cassandra’s instructions to locate the missing leader, we had to stay in groups to avoid another accident. It was the combined efforts of everyone in the expedition and the faith the main leader put into everyone that led to the successful extraction of the injured member, kept him warm with thermal mats.  A few hours later, he was then helicoptered to a major hospital for treatment.
In 2012, we took turns in organising activities every week, these include Canoeing, Ten Pin Bowling, Expression Night, Raid Night, Debating games, Wide games, Rifle range, The Amazing Race, Lasertag, Night Hike, Olympics night, Putt Putt golf, Rovers football, Circus night and Underwater Hockey.
We visited Lane Cove Council, Happy Science, Shinnyo-En Buddhist Temple.
We participated in camps such as Dragonskin, Scout Hike, VentOut and Family Camp.
We also participated in Anzac Day ceremony, Red Shield Appeal.
We really appreciate and would like to say a big “Thank You!” to our leaders and parents who helped in guiding us throughout the year.
