Venturers are going to Dragon Skin

Thursday, April 14th, 2011

This year 5 scouts have moved up to Venturers (We’re excited because the Unit has not been active for 4-5 years!). 3 of them are joining with another Venturer who was in their Scout Jamboree Troop to enter the Dragon Skin hiking competition to be held over Easter. Good luck to our team!!

Cubs and Scouts to help CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA DAY in LANE COVE!

Saturday, March 5th, 2011

Please come and participate in the 21st Clean Up Australia Day to help rejuvenate one of our local parks and to take part in a nationwide community event to keep our local environment healthy – together we can make a difference!

Meet at the Burns Bay boat ramp to complete the Clean Up Australia registration between 9:30 and 11:30am. N.B.: this will need to be signed by a parent for the U15′s; plus we will require parental supervision for cubs and scouts as 2-3 leaders cannot supervise all the cubs or scouts in different areas of the park/bay or along the creek.

This is part of the community service component of both the cubs and scout programs – please make an effort to support this activity even if you can only spare 30 – 60 minutes.

Wear comfortable old clothes, closed shoes (preferably old sand shoes) as we will be cleaning up along the bay/creek, hat and sunscreen + bring this signed permission form and a drink bottle. If you have gardening gloves, please bring them. We will have a selection of gloves to use. Cubs or scouts should not pick up any sharps etc – please call an adult or leader to keep all of our youth members safe.
