Australia Day 2008 Logo
Cubs and scouts are invited to join the Lane Cove community as we welcome our new citizens at the Flag Raising and Citizenship Ceremony to be held at Pottery Green (between Little and Phoenix Streets, Lane Cove) at 9:30 am.

Following this, Lane Cove Rotary have a Family Fun day at Pottery Green from 11am to 4pm. Attractions include – Stringybark Bush Band, Jumping Castle, Dodgem cars, tea, coffee and lamingtons, food stalls, sausage sizzle, primary schools public speaking competition, Radio 2NSB broadcasting from the site, free diabetes screening, Australia Day memorabilia and lots more!

Meet at Pottery Green at 8:45 am to help erect the flagpoles and practice raising the flags.

Earn a community service badge by attending the flag raising and citizenship ceremony and hand out native plants to the new citizens: learning about citizenship and taking a part in the local community is an important part of scouting at both cub and scout levels.

Planning For Australia Day 2008

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

Hi to all those back from holidays!
Now you’ve relaxed, its time to start off the Scouting year -

Lane Cove Rotary Club and Lane Cove Council are planning the events for Australia Day to be held at Pottery Green this year. To advertise the events, the Town Crier will be in the Plaza next Saturday morning. We would like to have some Scouts and Cubs to hold the flag with the Crier, while he walks around the Plaza. Each Scout/Cub Scout would only be needed for approximately an hour each between 10 and 12. Please let me know if you can come (and your prefered time slot)
This is also a reminder that our Group will be involved in the flag raising and citizenship ceremonies on Australia Day at Pottery Green (time TBA).

Kind regards,

Carolyn McGregor (Kaa)
